A serious human capital deficiency in the STEM field is a problem that is faced globally. Hence, it is crucial to practice a new pedagogy in the education system to overcome this matter. Robotics plays an important role in increasing students’ interest in STEM education by providing materials that are engaging to the students.

1.  Enhance creativity.

Robotics education opens the room for students to work on their creativity and problem-solving skills as well as strengthening the abilities needed for them to succeed in the core classroom. Informal Integrated STEM education through project-based learning involving the engineering design effectively increases students’ interest in STEM subjects.

2. Unique learning environment.

Through providing a physical embodiment of computation, students received visceral feedback from physically working on their project in robotic classes. They got to explore, come out with hypotheses on how things work and conduct experiments to test those hypotheses.

3. Aids for teaching mathematics and physics.

Robots are useful aids for teaching mathematics and physics as they can be used in classrooms for explaining difficult concepts. Robotics captures the imagination of many younger people. The plug-and-play characteristic of educational robots, like LEGO Mindstorms, makes it easier to learn complex engineering subjects without having prerequisite knowledge.
